We are starting the term with a fun & relaxed project! Crochet a hot-water bottle cover or cushion cover on this 2 week course (2 x 2 hour sessions). I’m running this as a daytime course at the Riverhouse Barn and as an evening course at St. Erconwald’s – both in Walton-on-Thames. Please make sure you book the correct session.
Skill Level
Students must be competent with basic crochet techniques, particularly single crochet (UK double), double crochet (UK treble) & counting stitches. All other stitches and techniques are taught in class. This is a great course for improvers.
Please note: this is NOT a learn to crochet course.
Course Overview
- How to make the motifs.
- How to join the motifs to make the front & back of the covers.
- Adjusting to get the correct fit.
- How to seam the pieces.
- How to make button closures.
Dates
This is a 2 week course, running on either Monday afternoons or Monday evenings:
- 22nd & 29th September 12:30-2:30pm – Riverhouse Barn.
- 22nd & 29th September 7:30-9:30pm – St. Erconwalds Church hall.
Cost
The course is £40 for 2 weeks. Materials NOT included, however, I am currently putting some kits together.
Class Format
All my classes come with detailed class notes and pattern. I provide samples and practical demonstrations of all techniques, helping and encouraging students with hands on assistance so that they can feel confident with their new found skills.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a new course and there is currently NO video content. I will have some very limited capacity during the 2 week course to create a couple of videos for specific techniques that students are struggling with. Therefore, please treat this course as an in-person only course.
Materials & Tools
The hot-water bottle cover uses 4 x 50g balls of DK Merino from Yarnsmiths, locking stitch markers and a 3.5mm crochet hook. You could also use 100% cotton in DK – but you may need more yarn as there is usually less yardage per 50g with cotton. You’ll also need 3-4 flat buttons (minimum 15mm dia).
The small cushion cover uses 5 x 50g balls of DK Merino from Yarnsmiths, locking stitch markers and a 3.5mm crochet hook. You could also use 100% cotton in DK – but you may need more yarn as there is usually less yardage per 50g with cotton. You’ll also need 4-5 flat buttons (minimum 15mm dia).
