Although I do teach children, as the parent/guardian of the child, please read through my polices and “important points” which are all mentioned due to previous experiences of teaching children to crochet. Since you know your child best you will be a able decide whether my classes are suitable for them.
Policies
- Any child or person under 18 must be accompanied by a paying adult, regardless of whether the adult is taking part in the course or not.
- I am not qualified to teach students with severe disabilities and learning difficulties.
- In some instances, I am not insured to teach students that are classed as “vulnerable”. If you are unsure if your child is classed as vulnerable, please get in touch.
Important Points
- My classes are aimed at adults and for the most part, all my classes are filled with adult students.
- Each class is 2 hours long and involves following prepared class notes, watching demonstrations and then partaking in practical crochet work.
- My evening classes start at 7:30pm and finish at 9:30pm. Please consider whether this will affect your child – even my adult students can find this a little fatiguing after a day’s work!
- I teach a maximum of 8 students in a beginners’ class. My beginners classes are nearly always fully booked.
- I always aim to move around the class, spreading myself evenly, helping each student in turn, so sometimes students that need more help will have to wait until I have worked my way back round to them.
- Students are expected to engage in a certain level of autonomy, working along with the class notes and following instructions.
- Since learning to crochet is mostly muscle memory and repetition, I always set “homework” to be completed before the start of the next class.
- Students understand that during the learning process we make mistakes and it takes repetition and a willingness to try again, in good faith, to progress.
