Chevrons & Ripples Course Walton-on-Thames – this is a four-week course (4 x 2 hour sessions), running Monday afternoons or Monday evenings. On this course we’ll be exploring how increases and decreases can be used to create fabric that zig-zags and undulates.
I have a selection of different stitch patterns that showcase this popular type of stitch sequence that can be used for blankets, scarves, bags and tops. For the first two weeks we’ll be exploring the techniques and “rules” and for the last two weeks we will be working on a larger project of your choice.
You’ll be learning how to:
- work flat fabric, crocheting in turned rows.
- make different types of increases and decreases.
- keep edges straight.
- add borders to raw edges.
- straighten out or fill a zig-zag edge.
- work and adjust pattern repeats.
- modify a chevron pattern.
Skill level: Intermediates or improvers
Students must be confident with basic crochet stitches such as:
- chaining
- single crochet (UK double)
- double crochet (UK treble)
- slip stitching
- fastening off
All other techniques will be taught in class.
As well as my guidance and hands on practical work, the course includes detailed class notes with photo tutorials and access to videos that go over key techniques covered in class.
