I’ve created a video tutorial to show you how to join crochet blocks with different stitch counts. It’s a useful join that enables you to easily adjust for stitch count anomalies. For example, when you have two motifs that are the same size but have different stitch counts.
The yarn I’ve used in the tutorial is Cotton DK by @yarnsmiths in Olive Green and Off White. For the blanket I have used Blush & Vanilla Fudge.
The motifs I have used in this tutorial are my “Two Colour Traditional Granny Square” & “Two Colour Solid Granny Square”. You can find video tutorials and downloadable PDF instructions on my FREE Crochet Motif Directory which you’ll find on my learning platform (requires login*).
The join is worked on the wrong side of the fabric, through the back loops of the stitches. You’ll need to go up a hook size. I.e. if you used a 3.5mm for the motifs, you’ll need to use a 4mm for the slip stitch join. This is because slip stitches have a much tighter gauge and you don’t want the seams the pucker.
